Input Commands such as Examine, Pickup, and Directions (North, South, East, West) to navigate the World of the Palindrome Hotel.

The Command "Help" will bring up a list of basic commands.

I have included a basic map in the Screenshots to help with navigation purposes.

The Mirror Lied is a text-based murder mystery game in which the player has to navigate the literary world around them and find out the necessary clues to determine what it was that happened in Hotel Palindrome, the place where the player awakens. This game was built in the Inform 7 engine, a text-based engine that allows for input commands that let the player interact with the world around them and discover clues that are not immediately evident on first glance.

In The Mirror Lied, the character has amnesia, so they know just as much as the player does, meaning it is up to the player to investigate. Some clues will be more obvious than others, and just out in the world to be noticed, while others might require a bit more sleuthing, such as picking up items and looking underneath things, to find all the pieces of the puzzle. In total, the game has 8 different locations that the player can travel to, each bearing different pieces of information that, when pieced together, help form a whole picture. While it is possible to reach the end of the game without visiting every single location, it will not be possible to discover the true ending unless a thorough sweep of the entire hotel is made.

There are currently 3 different endings to the game, and which ones you can get depends on whether or not you can solve the mystery of the murders within this isolated hotel. As this is a mystery game, going into too much detail runs the risk of giving something away, but just know that there is more going on than might appear on the surface. A lot of work went into this relatively short mystery game, and I hope the experience is enjoyable!
